Keloid scars (KS) and hypertrophic scars (HS) are fibroproliferative wound healing defects characterized by excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) in the dermis of affected individuals. Although transforming growth factor (TGF)-β is known to be involved in the formation of KS and HS, the molecular mechanisms responsible for its activation remain unclear. In this study we investigated Granzyme B (GzmB), a serine protease with established roles in fibrosis and scarring through the cleavage of ECM proteins, as a potential new mediator of TGF-β activation in KS and HS.

In recent decades, freshwater bodies have experienced significant stress due to the excessive disposal of dyes from textile industries and waste antibiotic discharges from pharmaceutical industries. The continuous disposal of these substances may harm the natural ecosystem and generate antibiotic resistance in living organisms. Conventional treatment facilities are inadequate in treating these contaminants effectively, leading to a focused interest in advanced technologies, such as electrooxidation.

Background: Social media influencers who promote e-cigarettes on Instagram or TikTok for tobacco brands use marketing tactics to increase the appeal of their promotional content, for example, depicting e-cigarettes alongside healthy lifestyle or entertainment imagery that could decrease youths' risk perceptions of e-cigarettes. Monitoring the prevalence of such content on social media using computer vision and generative AI (artificial intelligence) can provide valuable data for tobacco regulatory science (TRS).
Methods: We selected 102 Instagram and TikTok videos posted by micro-influencers in 2021-2024 who promoted e-cigarettes alongside posts featuring four themes: cannabis, entertainment, fashion or healthy lifestyle.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are considered an international problem due to their persistence in the environment, need to be properly treated in the end. In the destruction method by incineration, basic data are required to quantify the destruction characteristics of the target substance and the temperature-dependent behavior of its by-products. In this study, we conducted incineration tests targeting perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctadecanoic acid (PFOcDA).
