Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of postoperative hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) on bone marrow hematopoiesis, liver and kidney function, and serum electrolytes for patients who underwent open radical gastrectomy, and investigate the variation tendency of above indicators.
Materials And Methods: The clinical data of 153 patients who underwent open radical gastrectomy were retrospectively analyzed and were divided into HIPEC group (n=83) and control group (n=70). Repeated analysis of variance was used to analyze the variation tendency of bone marrow hematopoiesis, liver and kidney function, and serum electrolytes in the HIPEC and control group, respectively, and then made a comparison between the 2 groups.

Extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) is the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells outside the bone marrow and often observed in the liver, spleen in association with myeloproliferative disorders. On the other hand, EMH in the gastric wall is extremely rare. We report a rare case of EMH foci coexisting with early gastric cancer, which resulted in severe gastrointestinal bleeding.

Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient which plays an important role in neurological function, hematopoiesis, and DNA synthesis. Low levels usually stem from either poor intake or a malabsorptive process. Presently, the most common cause of vitamin B12 deficiency is food-bound cobalamin malabsorption, which occurs when there is impaired release of vitamin B12 from ingested food due to an outstanding factor preventing the release of the nutrient from its transport protein.

Importance: Few studies have described the longitudinal trajectories of serum levels of micronutrients whose deficiencies are associated with serious sequelae following bariatric procedures, such as anemia, osteoporotic fractures, and neuropathies. Furthermore, previous studies comparing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) vs Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) or one-anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) procedures may have been limited by selection and confounding biases.
Objective: To appraise the spectrum and temporal course of micronutrient deficiencies associated with bone metabolism and erythropoiesis after LSG vs OAGB or LRYGB procedures, using the propensity score as a balancing score.

In the original publication of this article [1] there are two garbled codes in the second sentence, the fourth paragraph of the Background section. The correct sentence should be: Tumor growth leads to the increased production of inflammatory cytokines and growth factors (mainly IL-1, IL-3, IL-6, IL-11, IL-23, and TNF-), and this perpetual process ensures immortality. These promoting factors are also important for angiogenesis and hematopoiesis, which explains the increase in blood cell types in cancerous diseases.
