Background: Few studies have explored the relationship between macronutrient intake and sleep outcomes using daily data from mobile apps.

Objective: This cross-sectional study aimed to examine the associations between macronutrients, dietary components, and sleep parameters, considering their interdependencies.

Methods: We analyzed data from 4825 users of the Pokémon Sleep and Asken smartphone apps, each used for at least 7 days to record objective sleep parameters and dietary components, respectively.

Multilayer Composite Electrodes for Simultaneously Improved Mechanical and Electrochemical Performance.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

The Harold & Inge Marcus Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pennsylvania 16802, United States.

Structural batteries offer a transformative approach to integrate energy storage directly into the frameworks of electric vehicles and aircrafts, enabling multifunctional construction. This study presents a nacre-inspired multilayer composite electrode fabricated via the cold sintering process (CSP), achieving a balance of enhanced electrochemical performance and mechanical robustness. The composite electrode combines active electrode materials with a ductile conducting polymer-carbon-mixture phase in a layered architecture.

Balance is crucial for various athletic tasks, and accurately assessing balance ability among elite athletes using simple and accessible measurement methods is a significant challenge in sports science. A common approach to balance assessment involves recording center of pressure (CoP) displacements using force platforms, with various indicators proposed to distinguish subtle balance differences. However, these indicators have not reached a consensus, and it remains unclear whether these analyses alone can fully explain the complex interactions of postural control.

Synchronization is fundamental for information processing in oscillatory brain networks and is strongly affected by time delays via signal propagation along long fibers. Their effect, however, is less evident in spiking neural networks given the discrete nature of spikes. To bridge the gap between these different modeling approaches, we study the synchronization conditions, dynamics underlying synchronization, and the role of the delay of a two-dimensional network model composed of adaptive exponential integrate-and-fire neurons.
