Backgrounds: Memory and emotion are especially vulnerable to psychiatric disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which is linked to disruptions in serotonin (5-HT) metabolism. Over 90% of the 5-HT precursor tryptophan (Trp) is metabolized via the Trp-kynurenine (KYN) metabolic pathway, which generates a variety of bioactive molecules. Dysregulation of KYN metabolism, particularly low levels of kynurenic acid (KYNA), appears to be linked to neuropsychiatric disorders.

A Study of the Different Strains of the Genus spp. on Increasing Productivity and Stress Resilience in Plants.

Plants (Basel)

January 2025

National Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology, Biotechnology Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing 100086, China.

One of the most important and essential components of sustainable agricultural production is biostimulants, which are emerging as a notable alternative of chemical-based products to mitigate soil contamination and environmental hazards. The most important modes of action of bacterial plant biostimulants on different plants are increasing disease resistance; activation of genes; production of chelating agents and organic acids; boosting quality through metabolome modulation; affecting the biosynthesis of phytochemicals; coordinating the activity of antioxidants and antioxidant enzymes; synthesis and accumulation of anthocyanins, vitamin C, and polyphenols; enhancing abiotic stress through cytokinin and abscisic acid (ABA) production; upregulation of stress-related genes; and the production of exopolysaccharides, secondary metabolites, and ACC deaminase. is a free-living bacterial genus which can promote the yield and growth of many species, with multiple modes of action which can vary on the basis of different climate and soil conditions.

Individuals with special metabolic demands are at risk of deficiencies in fat-soluble vitamins, which can be counteracted via supplementation. Here, we tested the ability of micellization alone or in combination with selected natural plant extracts to increase the intestinal absorption and bioefficacy of fat-soluble vitamins. Micellated and nonmicellated vitamins D3 (cholecalciferol), D2 (ergocalciferol), E (alpha tocopheryl acetate), and K2 (menaquionone-7) were tested in intestinal Caco-2 or buccal TR146 cells in combination with curcuma (), black pepper (), or ginger () plant extracts.

Following implantation, infections, inflammatory reactions, corrosion, mismatches in the elastic modulus, stress shielding and excessive wear are the most frequent reasons for orthopedic implant failure. Natural polymer-based coatings showed especially good results in achieving better cell attachment, growth and tissue-implant integration, and it was found that the inclusions of nanosized fillers in the coating structure improves biomineralization and consequently implant osseointegration, as the nanoparticles represent calcium phosphate nucleation centers and lead to the deposition of highly organized hydroxyapatite crystallites on the implant surface. In this study, magnetic nanoparticles synthesized by the co-precipitation method were used for the preparation of cellulose acetate composite coatings through the phase-inversion method.
