From 2 per cent to 5 per cent of all indirect inguinal hernias are of the sliding variety. (Sliding hernias are those in which part of the wall of the sac is formed by a viscus.) The proportion of sliding hernias is even higher in the aged. Hernias of this kind are found almost exclusively in males and usually on the left side. Preoperative diagnosis is not essential if the surgeon can recognize the lesion at operation and knows how to repair it properly. The LaRoque technique in which the peritoneal cavity is entered above the internal ring allows accurate definition of the pathological anatomy and effective repair of the hernia. It should be used in all true sliding indirect inguinal hernias.

Objective: To compare the long-term outcomes of porcine small intestinal submucosa (SIS) mesh and polypropylene (PP) mesh after an laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) inguinal hernia repair.
Background: Mesh-based surgical techniques for inguinal hernia repair are recommended in the guidelines due to the lower rate of recurrence. Biologic meshes (BMs) may have advantages in terms of chronic pain due to the different postoperative remodeling, without the disadvantages of a permanent implant.

Purpose: This study aimed to report the safety and feasibility of single-incision robotic totally extra-peritoneal repair (TEP) with the da Vinci Xi platform.
Methods: We prospectively included patients with unilateral inguinal hernia who underwent elective single-incision robotic TEP between August 10, 2021 and December 12, 2022. The primary outcome was the determination of postoperative complications, and secondary outcomes were quality of life and recurrence rate.
