Mineral carbonation is a prominent method for carbon sequestration. Atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO) is trapped as mineral carbonate precipitates, which are geochemically, geologically, and thermodynamically stable. Carbonate rocks can originate from biogenic or abiogenic origin, whereby the former refers to the breakdown of biofragments and the latter precipitation out of water.

Water pollution from industrial dyes like methylene blue poses severe environmental and health risks, necessitating effective wastewater treatment methods. Among various adsorbents, MgO stands out due to its high surface area, tunable porosity, and superior adsorption capabilities. This research presents the preparation of nano-scale magnesium oxide (MgO) fibers using electrospinning, followed by calcination at temperatures of 300 °C, 400 °C, 500 °C, 600 °C, and 700 °C.

Sustainable and eco-friendly synthesis methods for nanoparticles are crucial for advancing green nanotechnology. This study presents the biogenic synthesis of zinc oxide (ZnO) and magnesium oxide (MgO) nanoparticles using ovalbumin, an abundant and non-toxic protein from egg white. The synthesis process was optimized by varying metal ion concentrations to control particle size and morphology.

Petroleum contaminated soil (PCS) has complex properties and compositions, which seriously endangers the environment and is difficult to treat.
