Objective: To understand the prevalence, genetic diversity, and potential pathogenicity of adenoviruses present in pigeon and turtledove populations.

Methods: Nested PCR and Sanger sequencing methods were used to identify the genotype and percentage of various adenoviruses in the feces of pigeon (Columba) and turtledove (Streptopelia) populations. In Beijing, China, a total of 194 fresh feces samples from meat-use pigeons (C livia domestica), homing pigeons (C livia domestica), wild pigeons (C livia domestica), and turtledoves (S decaocto and S chinensis) were collected using noninvasive sampling collection techniques.

Fish Brain Cell Lines Can Be Infected with Adenoviral Vectors and Support Transgene Expression-An In Vitro Approach.

Int J Mol Sci

Immunobiology for Aquaculture Group, Department of Cell Biology and Histology, Faculty of Biology, University of Murcia, 30100 Murcia, Spain.

Host-pathogen interactions and the design of vaccines for aquaculture fish viruses are challenging and call for innovative approaches. This study explores the potential of adenoviral (Ad) vectors Ad5 and chimeric Ad5/40 as gene delivery tools for fish brain cells susceptible to neurotropic viruses. For this purpose, European sea bass () DLB-1 and gilthead seabream () SaB-1 brain cell lines were infected with Ad5 or Ad5/40 vectors expressing GFP, and we evaluated their capacity for infection by fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry, as well as their antiviral innate immune response by the transcription of gene markers ( and ).

Oncolytic viruses (OVs) are a promising therapeutic approach for cancer, although their systemic administration faces significant challenges. Mesenchymal stem cells have emerged as potential carriers to overcome these obstacles due to their tumor-tropic properties. This study investigates the use of menstrual blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MenSCs) as carriers for OVs in cancer therapy, focusing on enhancing their efficacy through different culture conditions.

IDOL alleviates the body weight by upregulating UCP-1 in mice.

Diabetes Obes Metab

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Oral & Maxillofacial Reconstruction and Regeneration, National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, Shaanxi Engineering Research Center for Dental Materials and Advanced Manufacture, Department of Anesthesiology, School of Stomatology, The Fourth Military Medical University, Xi'an, China.

Background: Given the potential role of brown adipose tissue (BAT) in stimulating energy expenditure, activating BAT can be an effective anti-obesity treatment. Here, we aimed to use adenoviruses to establish the effect of the inducible degrader of the low density lipoprotein receptor (IDOL) in the formation of BAT.

Methods: IDOL or green fluorescent protein was overexpressed by adenovirus and injected into the scapula of C57BL/6J mice and fed with high-fat diet for 12 weeks.

Respiratory tract infections caused by various pathogens remain a significant public health concern due to their high prevalence and potential for severe complications. This study systematically analyzed the epidemiological characteristics of six common respiratory pathogens-Chlamydia pneumoniae (CP), Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP), Adenovirus (AdV), Influenza A virus (FluA), Influenza B virus (FluB), and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)-in patients from Sichuan Jinxin Xinan Women and Children's Hospital between April 2023 and March 2024. Throat swab samples were collected from a total of 22,717 individuals.
