Background: The use of intravenous tranexamic acid (TXA), an antifibrinolytic agent, has been shown to effectively reduce total blood loss and transfusion rates in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The aim of this paper is to evaluate the implementation lag and clinical uptake of the use of TXA for primary TKA after publication of two landmark studies. Additionally, it assessed the efficacy of TXA use in TKA in reducing post-operative blood transfusions and hospital length of stay (LOS).

Background: Patient safety is important in daily anesthesia practices, and providing deep anesthesia is difficult. Introduction: Surgical site infections (SSIs) are the second leading cause of healthcare-associated infections in Europe with the highest rates being reported in colorectal surgery (ranging from 9% to 30%). Surgical antibiotic prophylaxis (SAP) is one of the most efficient measures for SSI prevention and should be started before surgical incision. Cefoxitin is an antibiotic widely used as SAP for colorectal surgery, but its continuous administration is currently the subject of debate due to its potential pharmacokinetic advantages.

Both photothermal therapy (PTT) and chemodynamic therapy (CDT) are designed to focus their antitumor effect on only the tumor site, thereby minimizing unwanted severe damage to healthy tissue outside the tumor. However, each monotherapy is limited in achieving complete tumor eradication, resulting in tumor recurrence. The combination of multiple therapies may help to overcome the limitations of single therapy, improve the chances of complete tumor eradication, and reduce the risk of recurrence.

Background: Glioblastoma is an aggressive brain cancer with a 5-year survival rate of 5-10%. Current therapeutic options are limited, due in part to drug exclusion by the blood-brain barrier, restricting access of targeted drugs to the tumor. The receptor for the type 1 insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1R) was identified as a therapeutic target in glioblastoma.
