Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) remains a critical global health challenge, characterized by high morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Current guidelines may overlook patients who present with only one moderate exacerbation or with frequent short-acting beta-agonist (SABA) use. Building on findings from the Seleida study, this research refines the criteria for poor COPD control to include these patients, aiming to improve early identification of high-risk cases in primary care.

Biocides, applied in building materials as antimicrobial protectants, can be leached out by rain, presenting substantial environmental risks as confirmed by studies on aquatic environments. However, these biocides are consistently released throughout the year in a diluted form, posing unique challenges for the prediction of transport, transformation, and ecotoxicity assessment in soil. To address this challenge, we combined COMLEAM, which predicts leaching from facades into the soil, with the FOCUS PELMO pesticide model to predict biocide distribution in soil.

Background: Type 1 diabetes is a serious, chronic disorder with an increasing incidence among children and adolescents. Glycemic control in individuals with type 1 diabetes is better managed through a basal-bolus regimen with either regular human or rapid-acting insulin analogues administered as a bolus at mealtimes. Rapid-acting insulin analogues have been hypothesized to cause optimal glycemic control and less risk of hypoglycemic episodes compared to regular human insulins.

Unlike classical antidepressants, psychedelics such as psilocybin have been shown to induce a rapid antidepressant response. In the wake of this development, interest has emerged in ultra-fast, short-acting psychedelics such as 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-MeO-DMT) and N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) with the expectation that these can produce rapid antidepressant effects following an intense but brief psychedelic intervention. The current paper reviews the clinical pharmacology of 5-MeO-DMT and DMT and their potential benefits and challenges in the treatment of depression.

Background And Objective: With the increase in use of digital technologies, there is growing interest in digital markers, where technology is used to detect early markers of disease deterioration. The aim of this systematic review is to summarise the evidence relating to digital markers of asthma exacerbations.
Methods: A systematic search of the following databases was conducted, using key search terms relating to asthma, digital and exacerbations: Ovid MEDLINE, EMBASE, Psycinfo, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.
