This study reports pathological and molecular features in 41 cases of feline restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM). Grossly, there were patchy or diffuse areas of endocardial thickening affecting the left ventricle. The more common patchy endocardial lesions occurred as large trabecular or irregular broad bands of fibrous tissue bridging the left ventricular free wall and ventricular septum.

Loeffler endocarditis is a fibrous restrictive cardiomyopathy thought to be caused by persistent eosinophilia. It is difficult to diagnose, and the prognosis is often poor if the underlying eosinophilia is not promptly recognized and treated. We describe the case of a middle-aged woman treated for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy first detected during a routine check-up at age 35years but whose symptoms gradually progressed over the next 14years.

A retrospective study was conducted in fifteen patients with the hypereosinophilia syndrome to assess the cardiac manifestations of the affection. Clinical, electrical, and radiological findings, together with the results of ultrasonography (8 cases), hemodynamic tests (6 cases), and pathological examinations (7 cases) were used to classify the fifteen patients into four groups: 7 cases with endomyocardial fibrosis (EMF), 5 with non-obstructive cardiomyopathy (NOCM), 2 with pre-existing cardiopathies, and 1 with a normal heart. The manifestations in the 7 EMF cases varied according to the extent of the fibrosis present: 2 adiastolies, 3 valve incompetences, and 2 asymptomatic forms.

Degeneration and fibrosis of the atrioventricular nodal tissue and left bundle branch, associated with cartilage of bone in the central fibrous body and fibrosis of the interventricular septal crest, were observed in 63 cats with cardiomyopathy. The cardiac lesions consisted of endocardial and myocardial fibrosis or organized endomyocarditis. Electrocardiographic, radiographic, angiocardiography, and hemodynamic changes were also observed in the cats.
