Estrogens are involved in the etiology of breast cancer. Their blastomogenic influence may be partly realized through their conversion into catecholestrogens, rate of which may be modified by smoking. The risk of having breast cancer diagnosed can increase in women using estrogen replacement therapy (ERT).

The authors came to conclusion that there exist reliable clinical and epidemiological evidences, concerning increased leukomogenic risk on working place with high benzene concentrations in past years (tens and even hundreds of ppm). Most epidemiological studies, indicate now that this risk is also elevated in more favourable working conditions, although practical valuable dose-effect relationship between benzene concentrations and rate of leukomogenic risks is still unknown.

Both substances produced tumors in animals of the experimental groups earlier than in the control group, this fact showing both the preparations to have blastomogenic effect. The results of the investigation show the possibility of using guinea pigs for studying the blastomogenic action of weak cancerogenic agents to which the endogenic blastomogenic substances belong.
