Recurrence beyond the second year of diagnosis and metastasis to the skin and eyelids are rare occurrences in breast cancer. When cutaneous metastases present without local recurrence, they pose a significant diagnostic challenge. Here, we describe a case of breast cancer that recurred 16 years after the initial treatment, with the only indication of recurrence being unusual skin and eyelid lesions.

Aim: An end colostomy is a potentially life-saving surgical intervention, but postoperative ostomy management is challenging in resource-limited settings. Socioeconomic, health system, and surgical capacity barriers may delay colostomy reversal. A surgery camp model for addressing the burden of unreversed colostomies has not previously been undertaken in Malawi.

Background: Post-operative pancreatic fistula is a common and morbid complication of pancreaticojejunal anastomosis. While gastrointestinal anastomosis is typically performed using absorbable sutures, this issue has prompted experimentation with non-absorbable sutures. The increasing detection of submucosal tumors (SMTs) in the upper gastrointestinal tract (UGI) is due to the increased clinical use of endoscopy and imaging technology. Some of these SMTs have malignant potential and may cause clinical symptoms. Thus, it is recommended in clinical guidelines to consider resection of these SMTs.
