infection (CDI), characterized by colitis and diarrhea, afflicts approximately half a million people in the USA every year, burdening both individuals and the healthcare system. 630Δ is an erythromycin-sensitive variant of the clinical isolate 630 and is commonly used in the research community due to its genetic tractability. 630Δ possesses a point mutation in , an autoregulated transcriptional repressor that regulates oxidative stress resistance genes.

Background: Children with Down syndrome (DS) often experience recurrent and prolonged hospitalizations from respiratory infections. While Azithromycin has been increasingly used for lower-respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) in children, its potential benefits for DS patients are unexplored. This study evaluates the effect of chronic azithromycin treatment on respiratory morbidity in children with DS.

In the last decade, invasive group A Streptococcus (iGAS) infections have doubled in the US, with equivalent increases in MLS (macrolide, lincosamide, and streptogramin B)-resistance. The emm92-type isolates carrying the erm(T) gene have been associated with an alarming emergence of iGAS infections in people who inject drugs or experience homelessness. Our goal was to elucidate the mechanisms behind inducible (iMLS) and constitutive (cMLS) resistance in emm92 isolates.

As a diverse and complex food matrix, the animal food microbiota and repertoire of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes remain to be better understood. In this study, 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and shotgun metagenomics were applied to three types of animal food samples (cattle feed, dry dog food, and poultry feed). ZymoBIOMICS mock microbial community was used for workflow optimization including DNA extraction kits and bead-beating conditions.

Introduction: causes Glässer's disease in pigs, a leading cause of death in swine herds and a major contributor to economic losses in the global swine industry. Although several studies have investigated antimicrobial resistance in , the correlation between phenotypic and genotypic resistance remains unclear due to incomplete genetic resistance mechanisms detection.
Methods: The susceptibility of 117 clinical isolates to 7 antimicrobials was determined using a broth microdilution method.
