Background: The prognosis in patients with advanced cardiac amyloidosis (CA) remains poor.
Objectives: We sought to describe survival post heart transplantation (HT) in amyloid compared with non-amyloid recipients, highlight waitlist times within the new allocation system across three Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) regions, and describe multiorgan transplantation (MOT) in hereditary amyloidosis.
Methods: This is a retrospective review of end-stage CA patients who underwent HT at Mayo Clinic from January 2007 to December 2020.

: This study explores the impact of brown rice bran powder (BRBP), known for its beneficial components, such as dietary fiber and γ-oryzanol, on individuals suffering from metabolic syndrome (MetS). /: In this eight-week open-label controlled trial, fifty participants with MetS were randomly assigned to either a control group, which received a standard diet (SDiet), or an intervention group, which incorporated 15 grams of BRBP daily into their diet. Demographic, anthropometric and clinical data were collected, and blood samples were taken to assess metabolic factors and antioxidant enzyme activities.

Objective: This study aimed to estimate the prevalence and investigate the factors associated with intestinal parasitic diseases in children from an urban slum in Brazil.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in children living in SEWA community, an urban slum located in Araguari, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The prevalence of intestinal parasitosis was determined via stool parasitological examination by spontaneous sedimentation.

Background: Reduced forced vital capacity (FVC) is associated with morbidity and mortality in individuals with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is often prescribed for the treatment of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB), and chronic respiratory insufficiency. Despite the common practice of initiating NIV later in the progression of DMD, the factors influencing FVC subsequent to the commencement of NIV remain unclear.

This study investigated the correlations between hematological and hemorheological parameters, serum proteins, and triglycerides in dogs with CME.
