Lyme disease (LD) results from the most prevalent tick-borne infection in North America, with over 476,000 estimated cases annually. The disease is caused by which transmits through the bite of Ixodid ticks. Most cases treated soon after infection are resolved by a short course of oral antibiotics.

The most important tools in killing and overcoming on the microbes and pathogens that cause diseases in medicine and/or in agriculture are the antibiotics. The discovery and synthesis of the microbial natural products or antibiotics has greatly developed genetically and biotechnologically quickly in the last decades. It is necessary to access this great genetic diversity by finding ways to increase the level of expression of these biosynthetic pathways.

Objective: To explore the effect difference between the skin needle embedding therapy and western medication for obese impaired glucose tolerance (IGT).
Methods: A total of 300 cases of obese IGT were assigned into an embedding group and a western medication group by random number table, 150 cases in each one. Standardized diagnosis and treatment programs were applied to reduce blood pressure, lipid, weight, and exercise and scientific diet management were used.

Methicillin-resistant (MRSA) poses a significant threat for effective treatment of several difficult-to-treat infections in humans. To identify potential new treatment options for MRSA infections, we screened a clinical compound library consisting of 1524 compounds using a growth inhibition assay in 96-well plates. We identified 34 agents which are either bacteriostatic or bactericidal against log-phase clinical MRSA strain USA300.

Carbomycins are 16-membered macrolide antibiotics produced by Streptomyces thermotolerans ATCC 11416. To characterize gene cluster responsible for carbomycin biosynthesis, the draft genome sequences for strain ATCC 11416 were obtained, from which the partial carbomycin biosynthetic gene cluster was identified. This gene cluster was approximately 40 kb in length, and encoding 30 ORFs.
