Vasopression increases sinusoidal efflux of GSH in the perfused rat liver. The mechanism of this effect was studied in the perfused rat liver and in isolated rat hepatocytes. Vasopressin stimulated GSH efflux in both systems and a V1-receptor antagonist (OPC-21268) significantly inhibited the effect of vasopressin suggesting that vasopressin stimulates GSH efflux from rat hepatocytes via V1-receptor.

Due to anthropogenic activities, coastal areas have been challenged with multi-stresses such as ocean warming and nickel (Ni) pollution. Currently, studies have concerned the combined effects of Ni and warming in marine organisms at the phenotypic level; however, the underlying molecular mechanisms are poorly known. In this study, a marine copepod Tigriopus japonicus was maintained under warming (+ 4℃) and an environmentally realistic level of Ni (20 μg/L) alone or combined for three generations (F0-F2).

Atmospheric fine particulate matter (PM) is the main contributor to Pb accumulation in edible Chinese cabbage leaves in North China. PM-Pb primarily enters leaves via stomatal foliar uptake. However, how PM-Pb is transported and stored within the leaf cells of Chinese cabbage remains unclear.

Background: Cinnamomum cassia Presl (Lauraceae) is widely used as a medicinal plant in the folk medicine and pharmaceutic industry, for its promising anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-bacterial function. However, the major bioactive components were still in debate, and their underlying molecular mechanism was not yet fully understood.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the bioactive ingredients of C.

The nitrogen mustard alkylating agent chlorambucil (CBL) is a critical component of chemotherapeutic regimens used in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The cancer cell-killing actions of CBL are limited by glutathione (GSH) conjugation, a process catalyzed by the GSH transferase hGSTA1-1 that triggers CBL efflux from cells. In the cancer cell microenvironment, intracellular GSH levels are elevated to counterbalance oxidative stress generated due to the high glycolytic demand.

Liver injury-induced activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) is a crucial step in the progression of liver fibrosis. The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR), a ligand-activated transcription factor, is highly expressed in the liver. However, the role of AHR in liver fibrosis remains controversial.
