Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) of the toxigenic dinoflagellate (KB) are pivotal in structuring the ecosystem of the Gulf of Mexico (GoM), decimating coastal ecology, local economies, and human health. Bacterial communities associated with toxigenic phytoplankton species play an important role in influencing toxin production in the laboratory, supplying essential factors to phytoplankton and even killing blooming species. However, our knowledge of the prevalence of these mechanisms during HAB events is limited, especially for KB blooms.

Unlabelled: Vitamin B (cobalamin) is a high-value yet scarce cofactor required for various metabolic processes, making its efficient handling important for maintaining metabolic homeostasis. While the involvement of ATP:cob(I)alamin adenosyltransferases (MMAB) in the synthesis, delivery, and repair of 5'-deoxyadenosylcobalamin (AdoCbl) is well established, the kinetic mechanisms that regulate this process, particularly its negative cooperativity, remain poorly understood. Understanding these mechanisms is key to clarifying how MMAB efficiently uses AdoCbl, prevents resource wastage, and supports bacterial survival in nutrient-limited environments.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine whether there are differences in the biochemical blood parameters between individuals with Cognitive Disengagement Syndrome (CDS) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and to investigate the relationship between vitamin levels and these disorders, as well as their impact on symptom severity.

Methods: The study included 35 patients with ADHD, 35 patients with both ADHD and CDS, and 35 healthy control subjects who presented to the child and adolescent psychiatry outpatient clinic between January 2022 and 2023, matched for age and gender. Children aged 7-15 were included in the study.
