In 1998 the National Research Council published . The volume focused on emerging research linking changes in human populations and land use/land cover to shed light on issues of sustainability, human livelihoods, and conservation, and led to practical innovations in agricultural planning, hazard impact analysis, and drought monitoring. Since then, new research opportunities have emerged thanks to the growing variety of remotely sensed data sources, an increasing array of georeferenced social science data, including data from mobile devices, and access to powerful computation cyberinfrastructure.

Totally implantable venous access port (TIVAP), a novel intravenous infusion system that is used for long-term intravenous treatment, has become increasingly popular among cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and other patients requiring long-term intravenous infusions. This technology has been introduced into clinical practice in China, with successful results. Nevertheless, there are still certain problems; for instance, China has not set up a specialized regulatory agency to oversee research and set guidelines for the comprehensive life-cycle management of TIVAP.

The influence of high-intensity electric fields on the stability of polymeric materials is a problem of interest in the design of next-generation energy storage and electronic devices, and for understanding the limits of stability of polymer films exposed to large electric fields generally. Here, we show that the dielectric strength of entangled glassy polymer films increases as an inverse power-law of the film thickness for "ultrathin" films below a micron in thickness. The dielectric strength enhancement in these polymer films becomes as large as ≈2 GV/m in films thinner than 100 nm, but in this thickness regime, the increase of the dielectric strength depends strongly on the polymer mass, sample aging time, and the method of film preparation.

Objective: Fluoropyrimidine chemotherapy is a first-line treatment for many gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, however, cardiotoxicity concerns may limit administration in patients with pre-existing cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study investigated the association of pre-existing CVD with use of fluoropyrimidine chemotherapy in tumour-eligible GI cancer patients.

Methods And Analysis: National cancer registry data from the Virtual Cardio-Oncology Research Initiative from England between 2014 and 2018 was used to identify GI cancer patients eligible to receive fluoropyrimidine chemotherapy.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is a global health problem, including in Indonesia, with East Lombok as a high prevalence region. Although control programmes have been implemented, TB cases remain high. Patient behaviours that are less supportive of treatment, such as non-compliance and social stigma, pose a challenge to TB control efforts in this area.
