Neuromorphic computing, which involves the creation of artificial synapses capable of mimicking biological brain activity, has intrigued researchers in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). To advance neuromorphic computing, a highly efficient 2D material-based artificial synapse capable of performing logical and arithmetic operations must be developed. However, fabricating large, uniform films or high-quality structures of 2D materials remains challenging because of their multistep and complex fabrication processes.

Among royal jelly's (RJ) various biological activities, its possible antihypertension and vasorelaxation effects deserve particular attention, but the underlying mechanisms of action remain unclear. Therefore, this study used the spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) hypertension model and the isolated rabbit thoracic aorta rings model to explore the mechanisms underlying the hypotension and vasorelaxation effects of RJ. Rats were divided into the following groups ( = 6): WKY-control group, SHR-control group, and SHR-RJ group.

Extract of Synedrella nodiflora (L) Gaertn exhibits antipsychotic properties in murine models of psychosis.

BMC Complement Altern Med

Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Health Science Center, Kuwait University, Safat, Kuwait.

Background: The hydro-ethanolic whole plant extract of Synedrella nodiflora (SNE) has demonstrated anticonvulsant, sedative and analgesic effects. Preliminary studies conducted in animals, SNE significantly decreased stereotypic behaviours suggesting antipsychotic potential. Coupled with the central nervous system depressant effects of SNE, we hypothesized that it may have utility in the management of psychosis.

In vitro culture systems for primary neurons have served as useful tools for neuroscience research. However, conventional in vitro culture methods are still plagued by challenging problems with respect to applications to neurodegenerative disease models or neuron-based biosensors and neural chips, which commonly require long-term culture of neural cells. These impediments highlight the necessity of developing a platform capable of sustaining neural activity over months.

3,16-Bisquaternary ammonium steroid derivatives as neuromuscular blocking agents: synthesis and biological evaluation.

Steroids

April 2015

Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Wuhan Bioengineering Institute, Han-Shi Road 1, Yangluo Economic Development Zone, 430415 Wuhan, China. Electronic address:

Neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs) are widely used in surgery to achieve skeleton muscles relaxation under light anesthesia status. In this work, we synthesized a series of 3,16-bisquaternary ammonium steroidal NMBAs. Among them, three compounds exhibited higher in vitro activities than the commenced drug rocuronium.
