Etnopharmacological Relevance: The Convolvulaceae or morning glory family, with about 2000 species in the world's Tropics and subtropics, stands out among the plants used in traditional medicine. Medicinal plant complexes with important purgative properties have been developed in Mexico and Brazil from members of the genera Ipomoea and Operculina with storage roots. Popularly known as the jalap roots, their resin glycosides cause purgative and laxative activities that facilitate bowel movements.

Rapid growth in bio-logging-the use of animal-borne electronic tags to document the movements, behaviour, physiology and environments of wildlife-offers opportunities to mitigate biodiversity threats and expand digital natural history archives. Here we present a vision to achieve such benefits by accounting for the heterogeneity inherent to bio-logging data and the concerns of those who collect and use them. First, we can enable data integration through standard vocabularies, transfer protocols and aggregation protocols, and drive their wide adoption.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is recognized as one major, potentially modifiable risk factor for neurodegenerative disease (NDD). Autopsy studies describe a range of neuropathologies in a proportion of individuals surviving late after TBI, most frequently the tau associated pathology, chronic traumatic encephalopathy neuropathologic change (CTE-NC). In addition to tau, other NDD pathologies are described.

Domain-specific vocabulary, which is crucial in fields such as Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing, requires continuous updates to remain effective. Incremental Learning, unlike conventional methods, updates existing knowledge without retraining from scratch. This paper presents an incremental learning algorithm for updating domain-specific vocabularies.
