Several hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 17-beta 13 variants have previously been identified as protective against metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) fibrosis, ballooning and inflammation, and as such this target holds significant therapeutic potential. However, over 5 years later, the function of 17B-HSD13 remains unknown. Structure-aided design enables the development of potent and selective sulfonamide-based 17B-HSD13 inhibitors.

Understanding the optoelectronic profile and chemical stability of transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) is crucial for advancing two-dimensional (2D) material applications, particularly in electronics, optoelectronics, and energy devices. Here, we investigate the structural, electronic, optical, and excitonic properties of the 1T' WSe monolayer. Phonon dispersion analysis confirmed the thermodynamic stability of this system.

Background: Chronic non-cancer pain (CNCP) is a common condition worldwide. The disease burden is influenced not only by pain itself, but also by psychiatric co-morbidities, which aggravate symptoms, generally negatively influence therapies, and may thereby lead to frustration, resignation, or withdrawal. A growing body of evidence suggests that sex and gender aspects influence CNCP management as the experience of pain, the emotions associated with it, and the expression of pain may differ between women and men.

Device-assisted left atrial appendage exclusion plays a crucial role in the prevention of fatal ischemic complications in patients with atrial fibrillation and contraindications to anticoagulation treatment. Various devices with different safety profiles and device-related complications are available in daily practice to perform this procedure. In this review, the anatomy, physiology, and functions of the left atrial appendage were detailed, and all available devices used for epicardial and endocardial exclusion of the left atrial appendage and their clinical outcomes were discussed.
