This study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram based on lymphocyte subtyping and clinical factors for the early and rapid prediction of Intra-abdominal candidiasis (IAC) in septic patients. A prospective cohort study of 633 consecutive patients diagnosed with sepsis and intra-abdominal infection (IAI) was performed. Autoimmune polyglandular syndrome type 3 (APS-3) is an uncommon condition marked by autoimmune thyroid disease (ATD) linked with other autoimmune issues, excluding Addison's disease. We report a case of a 41-year-old man who was hospitalized due to exhaustion and macrocytic anemia, later diagnosed with APS-3, which included Hashimoto's thyroiditis, pernicious anemia resulting from autoimmune gastritis, and pre-existing vitiligo. Diagnostic results indicated positive intrinsic factor antibodies, a gastric biopsy compatible with gastritis, elevated thyroid peroxidase antibodies, and significant findings from a thyroid ultrasound.

Background: Mycobacterium bovis BCG is the human tuberculosis vaccine and is the oldest vaccine still in use today with over 4 billion people vaccinated since 1921. The BCG vaccine has also been investigated experimentally in cattle and wildlife by various routes including oral and parenteral. Thus far, oral vaccination studies of cattle have involved liquid BCG or liquid BCG incorporated into a lipid matrix.

The frozen storage of biopharmaceuticals brings new challenges to the primary packaging material. Due to an increasing demand and the downsides of standard type I glass vials, such as vial breakage, novel vial types for special applications of parenteral drug products have been introduced to the market in the past years. Mechanical stresses due to dimensional changes experienced during freezing and thawing could change the material properties, hence affecting the interaction with the drug product stored in the vial or functionality such as overall integrity.
