Obliteration of the Processus Vaginalis After Testicular Descent.

Balkan Med J

March 2024

Member, The Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), Türkiye.

The testis develops in the abdominal cavity and descends into the scrotum. Although numerous theories have been proposed, the mechanism of descent and the reason for its inhibition remain unknown. Furthermore, none of the explanations account for the other occurrences related to the descent, such as failed obliteration of the processus vaginalis, or the reasons for the decrease in fertility and increase in the risk of malignancy associated with an undescended testis.

Background: Central Illustration : Predictive Model of All-Cause Death in Patients with Heart Failure using Heart Rate Variability.

Background: Short and long-duration heart rate variability (HRV) data from Holter monitoring could identify predictors of all-cause death in heart failure (HF) patients.

Objectives: To build a predictive model of all-cause death in patients with HF using HRV.

Maternal Hyperglycemia Induces Autonomic Dysfunction and Heart Failure in Older Adult Offspring.

Exp Clin Endocrinol Diabetes

November 2023

Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, School of Medicine, Federal University of Ceará, Fortaleza, Brazil.

Aims: Offspring exposed to an adverse fetal environment, such as gestational diabetes, may manifest increased susceptibility to several chronic diseases later in life. In the present study, the cardiovascular function of three different ages of offspring from diabetic rats was evaluated.

Methods And Results: Diabetes mellitus was induced in pregnant rats by a single dose of streptozotocin (50 mg/kg).

It has recently been demonstrated that reflex excitation of muscle sympathetic nerves triggered by muscle contraction contributes to the maintenance of tetanic force (TF) in rat hindlimb muscles. We hypothesized that this feedback mechanism between the contraction of hindlimb muscles and the lumbar sympathetic nerves declines during aging. In this study, we examined the contribution of sympathetic nerves on skeletal muscle contractility in young adult (4-9 months old, n = 11) and aged (32-36 months old, n = 11) male and female rats.
