Background: Inhibin B is a heterodimer glycoprotein that downregulates follicle-stimulating hormone and is produced predominantly by Sertoli cells. The potential correlation between changes in plasma Inhibin B and Sertoli cell toxicity was evaluated in male rats administered testicular toxicants in eight studies. Inhibin B fluctuations over 24 hr were also measured.

Background & Aims: The type of immune response during development of acute pancreatitis (AP) determines disease severity. Pancreatic epithelial cells express the interleukin (IL)-22 receptor A1 (IL-22RA1). The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-dependent transcription factor that regulates expression of IL-22.

Background: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) incidence and mortality are increasing in the United States and worldwide. ICC etiologies involve chronic inflammation. We hypothesize that the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent sulindac may prevent ICC by targeting cyclooxygenase-1 and -2 (COX-1, -2) as well as COX-independent pathways.

The goal of this study was to assess if oxidative stress, as measured by alterations in the concentrations of antioxidant enzymes in the liver and erythrocytes of cattle, could be induced following dl-ethionine administration. Whole blood, serum and liver biopsy samples were collected 0, 4, 7 and 10 days after intra-peritoneal ethionine administration to five cows. The activities of the antioxidant enzymes copper zinc superoxide dismutase (Cu, Zn SOD) and catalase were assessed in the liver biopsies which were also examined histopathologically.
