Globally, breast cancer is the most frequent type of cancer, and its early diagnosis and screening can significantly improve the probability of survival and quality of life of those affected. Liquid biopsy-based targets such as circulating tumor cells, circulating tumor DNA, and exosomes have been instrumental in the early discovery of cancer, and have been found to be effective in stage therapy, recurrence monitoring, and drug selection. Biosensors based on these target related biomarkers convert the tested substances into quantifiable signals such as electrical and optical signals through signal transduction, which has the advantages of high sensitivity, simple operation, and low invasiveness.

Prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease requiring early cardiac catheterization or surgical intervention enables optimal delivery planning for appropriate postnatal cardiovascular intervention and care. This allows for improved morbidity and mortality. Prior national data reported prenatal diagnosis rates of 32% for congenital heart disease requiring intervention in infants in the first 6 months of life in the New England region.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma lacks suitable biomarkers for early diagnosis of disease. In gene panels developed for early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, high AHNAK2 mRNA expression was one possible biomarker. In silico analysis of published human sample datasets (n = 177) and ex vivo analysis of human plasma samples (n = 30 PDAC with matched 30 healthy control) suggested AHNAK2 could be a diagnostic biomarker.

Evaluating scales to detect large vessel occlusion (LVO) could aid in considering early referrals to a thrombectomy-capable center in the prehospital stroke code setting. Nevertheless, they entail a significant number of false positives, corresponding to intracranial hemorrhages (ICH). Our study aims to identify easily collectible variables for the development of a scale to differentiate patients with ICH from LVO.
