Laboratory practitioners working in oncology are increasingly involved in implementing genomic medicine, operating at the intersection of the laboratory and the clinic. This includes molecular diagnostic work and molecular testing to direct entry into molecular-based clinical trials and treatment decision-making based on molecular profiling. In this article, we draw on qualitative interviews with laboratory practitioners in the United Kingdom to explore the role of laboratory work in genomic cancer medicine, focusing on the handling of patient tissue and making of potentiality to guide patients' present and future care.

Biological communities are currently facing multi-stressor scenarios whose ecological impacts are challenging to estimate. In that respect, considering the complex nature of ecosystems and types and interaction among stressors is mandatory. Microcosm approaches using free-living nematode assemblages can effectively be used to assess complexity since they preserve the interactions inherent to complex systems when testing for multiple stress effects.

Oral mucosal melanoma (OMM) is a common neoplasm in canines, although it is rare in humans. Cancer cells present alterations in energetic metabolism, and the Warburg effect states that most cancer cells undergo aerobic glycolysis. This can be reversed by certain drugs, resulting in decreased cell viability and cell death.
