Nasal high flow (NHF) therapy is an established form of non invasive respiratory support used in acute and chronic care. Recently, a new high flow nasal cannula with asymmetric prongs was approved for clinical use. The clinical benefits of the new cannula have not yet been defined and no evidence are available on the use of asymmetric NHF support in patient with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Background: Alpine skiing requires flexibility, endurance, strength and rotational ability, which may be lost after long fusions to the pelvis for adult spinal deformity (ASD). ASD patients may worry about their ability to return to skiing (RTS) postoperatively. Background: Patients with prior abdominal surgeries are at higher risk of intra-peritoneal adhesions near the trocar entry site, increasing the likelihood of organ injury during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). This study evaluates a novel technique where the epigastric trocar is inserted first, after creating pneumoperitoneum, to allow safe dissection of adhesions under direct vision before placing the umbilical trocar.
Methods: This prospective study included 244 patients with symptomatic uncomplicated gallstone disease and a history of previous abdominal surgeries extending to the umbilicus.

There are national and international guidelines and developments for the surgery of chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that contribute to better patient care. Important recommendations include increasingly individualized and minimally invasive approaches with the integration of new technologies. The indication for abdominal surgery remains tied to specialization, not least in order to continue to be able to assess the importance of sequential treatment and multimodality in improving surgical results and minimizing risks.
