Published: August 1993

The interest and the limits of different hemodynamic parameters are recalled: measure of right arterial pressure and pulmonary artery pressure, continuous measurement of SvO2. Technological and theoretical knowledge are necessary to interpret the results.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a class of protocells that can differentiate into various cell types and have robust replication and renewal capabilities. MSCs secrete various nutritional factors to regulate the microenvironment of tumor tissues. The mechanism by which they inhibit or promote tumor growth may be closely related to MSC-derived exosomes (MSC-Exo).

Importance: Medicare Advantage (MA) plans are designed to incentivize the use of less expensive drugs through capitated payments, formulary control, and preauthorizations for certain drugs. These conditions may reduce spending on high-cost therapies for conditions such as cancer, a condition that is among the most expensive to treat.

Objective: To determine whether patients insured by MA plans receive less high-cost drugs than those insured by traditional Medicare (TM).

Molecular beacon (MB) probes have been extensively used for nucleic acid analysis. However, MB probes fail to hybridize with folded DNA or RNA. Here, we demonstrate that MB probes equipped with extra sequences complementary to the analyte, named 'tail', can increase the signal-to-background ratio by ∼40-fold and hybridization rates by ∼800-fold compared to conventional MB probes.

Department of Obstetrics, Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, China.

Pregnancy complications pose challenges for both pregnant women and obstetricians globally, with the pathogenesis of many remaining poorly understood. Recently coined as a mode of cell death, cuproptosis has been proposed but remains largely unexplored. This process involves copper overload, resulting in the accumulation of fatty acylated proteins and subsequent loss of iron-sulfur cluster proteins.

Background: Aging is associated with sustained low-grade inflammation, which has been linked to age-related diseases and mortality. Long-term exercise programs have been shown to be effective to for attenuating this process; however, subsequent detraining might negate some of these benefits. Master athletes, as a model of lifelong consistent exercise practice, have been suggested to present similar inflammatory profiles to untrained young adults.
