Kalium and Magnesium ions are important cations in human body, both of them take part in many processes of metabolism in coordination. Injection of Kalii L-aspartatis and Magnesii L-aspartatis added to polarized liquid (GIK-Glucose, Insulin, Kalii Chlorid) might potentiate its effect and reduce carbon dioxide and ammonia in blood. 72 patients with various heart emergencies and other critical diseases were treated with potentiated polarized liquid (GIKL) with remarkable efficacy. A preliminary study on its clinical use and mechanism was carried out.

In this article we describe research on the synthesis and characterization of a family of "Janus" amphiphiles composed of disaccharide head groups and alkaloid units joined together via a methylene linker, and bearing a lateral aliphatic chain of varying length. The condensed phases formed by self-organization of the products as a function of temperature were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, thermal polarized light microscopy, and small angle X-ray scattering, allied with computational modelling and simulations. Structural studies on heating specimens from the solid showed that some homologues exhibited lamellar, columnar and bicontinuous mesophases, whereas the same homologues revealed different phase sequences on cooling from the amorphous liquid.

Human nasal epithelium (HNE) organoid models of SARS-CoV-2 infection were adopted globally during the COVID-19 pandemic once it was recognized that the Vero cell line commonly used by virologists did not recapitulate human infection. However, the widespread use of HNE organoid infection models was hindered by the high cost of media and consumables, and the inherent limitation of basal cells as a scalable continuous source of cells. The human Calu-3 cell line, generated from a lung adenocarcinoma, was shown to largely recapitulate infection of the human epithelium and to preserve the SARS-CoV-2 genomic fidelity.

This work combines halogen and chalcogen bonding. Short, polarity directed C-X⋅⋅⋅Ch (X = Br or I, Ch = Se or Te) contacts were prepared by in situ low-temperature cocrystallization of liquid mixtures of neutral pentafluorohalogenobenzenes C6F5X and dimethyl chalco-genides Me2Ch. Solid-state structures of Me2Se and Me2Te were determined 150 and 125 years after their first description.

Electrochromic materials were discovered in the 1960s when scientists observed reversible changes between the light and dark states in WO thin films under different voltages. Since then, researchers have identified various electrochromic material systems, including transition metal oxides, polymer materials, and small molecules. However, the electrochromic phenomenon has rarely been observed in non-metallic elemental substances.

Achieving ultrahigh permeance and superoleophobicity is crucial for membrane application. Here, we demonstrated that a poly(ionic liquid)/PES hydrogel membrane can achieve dual goals. The high polarity of the ionic liquids induces the water molecules on the membrane surface to be arranged more ordered, as verified by molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and advanced femtosecond sum frequency generation (SFG) vibrational spectroscopy.
