The stratigraphic sequence displays pronounced variations in lithological and physical characteristics along the vertical axis. The acquisition of vertically continuous variations in stratigraphic rock mechanical parameters is essential for the detailed characterization of stratigraphy, particularly in reservoir layers. Moreover, mechanical parameters are essential for the establishment of a rock mechanical stratigraphic framework.

Clam shrimps are one of the most common and representative invertebrates in continental strata and are endowed with important biostratigraphic and paleoecological values. The genus is one of the most common clam shrimp taxa that has been recorded in the latest Paleozoic and the Mesozoic around the world. A list of all the species assigned to , recorded from the Devonian to the Cretaceous across all seven continents as of September 2024, is provided.

There is an ongoing debate about the internal systematics of today's group of hamsters (Cricetinae), following new insights that are gained based on molecular data. Regarding the closely related fossil cricetids, however, most studies deal with only a limited number of genera and statements about their possible relationships are rare. In this study, 41 fossil species from the Late Miocene to the Pliocene, belonging to seven extinct cricetine genera, , , , , , and are analysed in a phylogenetic framework using traditional maximum parsimony and Bayesian inference approaches.

The Youjiang Basin is the main area of the Middle Devonian shale gas resources in southern China, with complex geological conditions, diverse stratigraphic structures, low level of exploration and limited hydrocarbon geological data. In this study, a method is proposed for evaluating the regional shale gas preservation conditions, by which it is easy to obtain information (using available data from regional geological maps) and to process data (processed by computer software). This method was applied to the evaluation of the preservation conditions of the Middle Devonian shale gas in the Youjiang Basin.
