During the healing process after intra-nasal surgery, the growth and repair of damaged tissues can result in the development of postoperative adhesions. Various techniques have been devised to minimize the occurrence of postoperative adhesions which include insertion of stents in the middle meatus, application of removable nasal packing, and utilizing biodegradable materials with antiadhesive properties. This study assesses the efficacy of two sodium hyaluronate (SH)-based freeze-dried hydrogel composites in preventing postoperative nasal adhesions, comparing them with commonly used biodegradable materials in nasal surgery.

Aims: Offloading mechanical tissue stress is arguably the most important of multiple interventions needed to heal diabetes-related foot ulcers. This is the 2023 International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) evidence-based guideline on offloading interventions to promote healing of foot ulcers in persons with diabetes. It serves as an update of the 2019 IWGDF guideline.

The need for denture adhesives is increasing worldwide, but few denture-care products target denture adhesive users. Foam denture cleaners have been recently marketed to assist brush denture cleaning, but there is a lack of objective evaluation. In this study, we compared the detergency of denture adhesives using six commercial foam-denture cleaners.

Background: Pressure offloading treatment is critical for healing diabetes-related foot ulcers (DFU). Yet the 2011 Australian DFU guidelines regarding offloading treatment are outdated. A national expert panel aimed to develop a new Australian guideline on offloading treatment for people with DFU by adapting international guidelines that have been assessed as suitable to adapt to the Australian context.

Based on electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), hollow structures of Ni foam struts fabricated by electroplating on a chemically removable template were observed. Three-dimensional (3D) pore structures of Ni foams were also obtained using X-ray computed tomography (CT), and microstructural features such as porosity, pore size and strut thickness were statistically quantified. Evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties during ex situ compression of open-cell Ni-foams was investigated based on X-ray CT, and experimental results were compared with predictions by the finite element method (FEM).
