Objectives: Contrast agents are frequently administered in computed tomography (CT) scans used for opportunistic screening of osteoporosis. The objective of this study is to compare the impact of contrast-related bone mineral density (BMD) increase between phantom-based and internal CT calibration techniques.
Materials And Methods: Phantom-based and internal CT calibration techniques were used to determine trabecular BMD in 93 existing clinical CT scans of the lumbar spine of 34 subjects, scanned before and after administration of contrast agents.

Internal hernias are one of the rare causes of intestinal obstruction and usually is the diagnosis of exclusion. Para-duodenal hernias (PDH) are rare congenital disorders that occur due to malrotation of the midgut in the embryonic phase of development. They can be asymptomatic or can present as an incarcerated, strangulated, or even obstructed internal hernia.

Aim: It was the aim of this study to compare two different dry reverse micelle (RM) preparation methods for the incorporation of hydrophilic drugs into oral self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS).
Methods: Cationic ethacridine lactate, anionic fluorescein sodium salt and the antibiotic peptide bacitracin were solubilized in RM containing sodium docusate, soy phosphatidylcholine and sorbitan monooleate in highly lipophilic oils such as squalane. In the dry addition (DA) method, drugs were directly added to empty RM in their powder form.

Background: Sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SICM) often occurs in the acute phase of sepsis and is associated with increased mortality due to cardiac dysfunction. The pathogenesis remains poorly understood, and no specific treatments are available. Although SICM is considered reversible, emerging evidence suggests potential long-term sequelae.

The shear wave speed is often small compared to the compressional wave speed in the top part of the seabed, where acoustic normal modes penetrate. In sediments with weak but finite shear rigidity, the strongest conversion from compressional to shear waves occurs at interfaces within the sediment. Shear wave generation at such interfaces and interference within sediment layers lead to first-order perturbations in the normal mode phase speed and contributions to sound attenuation, which vary rapidly with frequency.
