In this study, a positively charged nanofiltration (NF) nanocomposite mixed matrix membrane (MMM) was developed by incorporating metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) (MIL-303) into P84 co-polyimide and cross-linking with hyperbranched polyethyleneimine (HPEI). A very thin selective layer was subsequently formed on the cross-linked membrane surface using trimesoyl chloride (TMC). The incorporation of MIL-303 introduced specific water channels, enhancing the permeance of the nanocomposite MMMs.

The collapsible tubular mast (CTM) can be compactly folded for transport and deployed in orbit to serve as a key structural element. Once deployed, the CTM is vulnerable to buckling under axial load and bending moments, compromising its load-bearing capacity. The intricate relationship between the CTM's cross-section and its buckling behavior poses a significant challenge for designers.

Eye lens capsules contained a previously overlooked structure possibly derived from the Zonule of Zinn or lens epithelium. Sheep lens capsule inner surface revealed periodic stripes spaced at about 8µm over an area of more than 200µm long and wide. Ultra thin sections of a similar area revealed the periodic insertion of cell feet into the lens capsule with numerous vesicles.
