Primary aldosteronism (PA) is a common, potentially reversible, cause of hypertension. Distinguishing unilateral from bilateral PA is critical when deciding who should be offered surgery (unilateral adrenalectomy). Recent studies have shown that PET/CT with [C]metomidate can accurately identify unilateral PA, with localization of the causative aldosterone-producing adenoma (APA).

Hypoxia at high altitude can constrain aerobic metabolism and elicit physiological responses that are detrimental to health and fitness. Responses of the sympathoadrenal system are vital for coping with acute hypoxia, but can become maladaptive with prolonged activation in chronic hypoxia. We examined how adrenal function is altered in high-altitude populations of deer mice (), which have evolved to overcome chronic hypoxia in their native environment.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 and long COVID can present with nonspecific symptoms resembling adrenal insufficiency. This similarity of symptoms means that adrenal insufficiency hidden among nonspecific manifestations of COVID-19 may pass underrecognized. We present the case of a 53-year-old Japanese man who developed isolated adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) deficiency (IAD) and acute adrenal insufficiency after COVID-19, thus mimicking prolonged symptoms of COVID-19.

Purpose: The common approach for organ segmentation in hybrid imaging relies on coregistered CT (CTAC) images. This method, however, presents several limitations in real clinical workflows where mismatch between PET and CT images are very common. Moreover, low-dose CTAC images have poor quality, thus challenging the segmentation task.

Gold-standard psychotherapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) show beneficial effects, but patient responses vary, indicating a need to predict and optimize treatment efficacy. Gene expression analysis may offer insights into the interplay between psychosocial processes and biological factors that impact psychopathology and therapeutic response. This integrative review examines 17 studies that assess gene expression in the context of psychotherapy, highlighting innovative frameworks for incorporating gene expression analysis in diagnosis, predicting treatment response, and monitoring treatment progress.
