Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) is a multimodal approach to improve surgical outcome and has been implemented in many fields of surgery in an international scale. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) society recommendations in liver surgery and the impact on general and surgery-related complications. 1049 patients who underwent liver surgery from July 2018 to October 2023 were included.

Background: Cerebral infarction is one of the most common diseases. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) has been used to evaluate for crossed cerebellar diaschisis (CCD) to observe the expression of repulsive guidance molecule a (RGMa), the axonal regeneration as well as the effect on neural functional recovery in the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rat model.

Purpose: To certify the expression pattern of RGMa in cerebral infarction and the mechanism of CCD to provide a new target for clinical therapy.

Background: Ciprofol, a novel intravenous anesthetic, which has primarily been used for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in adults, is characterized by rapid onset, short duration of action, and quick and smooth recovery. However, the pharmacokinetic characteristics of continuous infusions and the correlation between the plasma concentration and the bispectral index (BIS) in elderly patients are still unknown.

Method: In this randomized, controlled study, thirty elderly patients (62-78 years old) undergoing elective gastrointestinal tumor resection were treated with propofol (N = 15) or ciprofol (N = 15) as sedatives during anesthesia.

Background: The role of pulsatile versus non-pulsatile flow during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is still in debate. This systematic review aimed to comprehensively assess the impact of pulsatile versus non-pulsatile flow on patients' recovery.

Methods: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases for randomized controlled trials comparing pulsatile and non-pulsatile flow in cardiac surgeries with CPB.

Recyclability and recovery of carbon from waste printed circuit boards within a circular economy perspective: A review.

J Environ Manage

January 2025

Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Concordia University, Montreal, QC, H3G 1M8, Canada. Electronic address:

Waste printed circuit boards (WPCBs) are a significant component of electronic waste (e-waste) and are among the fastest-generating waste flows. The potentially negative impacts caused by e-waste on the environment and human health pose an increasingly apparent threat to people's everyday lives and well-being. The nonmetallic fraction (predominantly carbon) of WPCBs is characterized by heavy weight, low resource value, and complex composition, and these characteristics significantly restrict the recycling of the WPCBs to achieve a circular economy.
