Integration of Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice Into Prelicensure Nursing Curricula: Preparing Nursing Students for Cardiac Arrest Care.

Nurse Educ

January 2025

Authors Affiliations: Department of Biobehavioral Nursing Science (Drs Castro, Stephens, and Vanderzwan), Department of Human Development Nursing Science (Ms Ortiz), College of Nursing, University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, IL.

Background: Nursing students are not consistently trained on how to care for patients experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. In rapid cycle deliberate practice (RCDP), learners perform a simulation with micro-debriefs interjected by the instructor.

Problem: RCDP has been used to train health care students on how to respond during a sudden cardiac arrest, but its application to prelicensure nursing students is underreported.

The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the need for nations to prepare more effectively for emerging infectious diseases. Preparing for these threats requires a multifaceted approach that includes assessing pathogen threat, building flexible capabilities for rapid medical countermeasure (MCM) development, and exercising, maintaining, and improving those response capabilities. The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) promotes the advanced development of MCMs in response to natural and manmade threats.

Solar desalination is one of the effective means to alleviate water scarcity, in which aerogel-like evaporators have attracted extensive attention in the field of efficient desalination. However, the current preparation methods for aerogels still mainly rely on high-cost solutions, such as freeze-drying or supercritical drying. Herein, a preparation scheme for aerogels that can be realized under atmospheric pressure conditions is reported.

A colloidal gold immunochromatographic assay (ICA) based on a dual-antibody sandwich method was developed for the rapid and convenient detection of () antigens in the early stages of infection. Monoclonal antibodies designed as 5B3 targeting the conserved region of 56 kDa outer membrane protein in various strains of were generated through cell fusion and screening techniques and combined with previously prepared polyclonal antibodies as detection antibodies to establish the ICA. Colloidal gold and polyclonal antibody-colloidal gold complexes were synthesized under optimized conditions.

Background The emergence of treatment-resistant species has highlighted the importance of antifungal susceptibility testing as it is difficult to determine therapeutics solely based on species identification. However, as compared to bacterial pathogens, antimicrobial susceptibility testing in fungi still remains underutilized in most clinical diagnostic microbiological services. The disc diffusion (DD) technique is reported to be easy and cost-effective and therefore can be easily incorporated as a routine method.
