Environmental variation often drives evolutionary processes like population differentiation, local adaptation and speciation. We used genome-scale data to investigate the contribution of environmental variation to evolution of the North Caribbean bark anole (Anolis distichus), a widespread common lizard that exhibits impressive phenotypic variation across varying habitats on the island of Hispaniola. We obtained new double-digest restriction-associated DNA sequence data (ddRADseq) from nearly 200 individuals and used 53 GIS data layers representing a range of environmental variables.

Background: Identifying markers or genes crucial for growth traits in Zhongwei goats is pivotal for breeding. Pinpointing genetic factors linked to body size gain enhances breeding efficiency and economic value. In this study, we used the MGISEQ-T7 platform to re-sequence 240 Zhongwei goats (133 male; 107 female) belonging to 5 metrics of growth traits at different growth stages (40 days and 6 months, here in after referred to as 40d and 6 m), namely, Body Weight (BW), Body Height (BH), Body Length (BL), Chest Circumference (CC), Tube Circumference (TC) were examined.

Background: Gyrodactylus von Nordmann, 1832, a genus of viviparous parasites within the family Gyrodactylidae, contains one of the largest nominal species in the world. Gyrodactylus pseudorasborae Ondračková, Seifertová & Tkachenko, 2023 widely distributed in Europe and China, although its mitochondrial genome remains unclear. This study aims to sequence the mitogenome of G.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of Clinostomum species in wild birds in Turkey using morphological and molecular methods.
Methods: 51 birds of 18 species from seven orders previously reported as definitive hosts of the Clinostomum spp. were collected.

Iron overload has been shown to have deleterious effects in the brain through the formation of reactive oxygen species, which ultimately may contribute to neurodegenerative disorders. Accordingly, rodent studies have indicated that systemic administration of iron produces excess iron in the brain and results in behavioral and cognitive deficits. To what extent cognitive abilities are affected and which neurobiological mechanisms underlie those deficits remain to be more fully characterized.
