Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome and haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) are rare but severe immune-mediated diseases with overlapping clinical manifestations. We present a case of a woman in her late 40s with rheumatoid arthritis who developed DRESS/HLH overlap syndrome after starting hydroxychloroquine and leflunomide therapy. Despite corticosteroid treatment, her condition worsened, necessitating etoposide therapy.

Cardioembolic stroke caused by atrial myxoma.

A woman in her early 60s presented with multiple transient neurological symptoms over the course of 20 months, including transient loss of power to her right lower limb. Initial workup with CT brain scan, carotid dopplers and ECG revealed no abnormality; however, MRI of the brain suggested recent ischaemic events in separate cortical territories. Subsequent transoesophageal echocardiogram revealed a large mobile mass histologically confirmed to be an atrial myxoma.

Some infected cells in mice survive the acute infection and persist for extended periods in the respiratory tract but not in other tissues. Here, we describe two experimental models of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection to assess the effect of viral virulence on previously infected cells.
