This study aimed to investigate the effects of heat-killed N1 (HK-N1) and lipoteichoic acid (LTA) derived from it on alleviating insulin resistance by modulating the gut microbiota and amino acid metabolism. High-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice were administered live bacteria or HK-N1, and the results demonstrated that HK-N1 significantly reduced epididymal adipocyte size and serum low density lipoprotein-cholesterol, and improved insulin resistance by increasing the YY peptide and glucagon-like peptide levels. HK-N1 also modulated the gut microbiome composition, enhancing microbiota uniformity and reducing the abundance of , and .

This study investigated whether viable cells, dead cells or cell-free supernatants (CFS) were responsible for the biocontrol effect of strains from two important bacterial genera, and , known for their antifungal properties against plant pathogens and food spoilage microorganisms. Specifically, the capability of these strains to produce extracellular hydrolytic enzymes on specified media was assessed, along with their effectiveness in inhibiting the mycelial growth of several phytopathogenic fungi (, , and ) using dual culture plate assays. Results from these inhibition assays revealed that PF05 and LMG 23520 strains were the most effective in suppressing fungal growth, especially .

The global dissemination of SARS-CoV-2 led to a worldwide pandemic in March 2020. Even after the official downgrading of the COVID-19 pandemic, infection with SARS-CoV-2 variants continues. The rapid development and deployment of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines helped to mitigate the pandemic to a great extent.

Impairment of the intestinal barrier allows the systemic translocation of commensal bacteria, inducing a proinflammatory state in the host. Here, we investigated innate immune responses following increased gut permeability upon administration of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in mice. We found that Enterococcus faecalis translocated to the bone marrow following DSS treatment and induced trained immunity (TI) hallmarks in bone-marrow-derived mouse macrophages and human monocytes.

The Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-borne virus with a long history of recurring epidemics transmitted through mosquitoes. The rapid spread of CHIKV has intensified the need for potent vaccines. Escherichia coli (), a vital part of human gut microbiota, is utilized in recombinant DNA technology for cloning.
