Background: The transmission of Salmonella spp. to human through the consumption of contaminated food products of animal origin, mainly poultry is a significant global public health concern. The emerging multidrug resistant (MDR) clones of non-typhoidal Salmonella (NTS) serovars, have spread rapidly worldwide both in humans and in the food chain.

Persistent, Private and Mobile genes: a model for gene dynamics in evolving pangenomes.

Mol Biol Evol

January 2025

Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Biology (CIRB), College de France, CNRS, INSERM, Université PSL, Paris, France.

The pangenome of a species is the set of all genes carried by at least one member of the species. In bacteria, pangenomes can be much larger than the set of genes carried by a single organism. Many questions remain unanswered regarding the evolutionary forces shaping the patterns of presence/absence of genes in pangenomes of a given species.

Synthesis, characterization and biological profile of some new dihydropyrimidinone derivaties.

Heliyon

January 2025

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Riphah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Riphah International University, Islamabad, Pakistan, 44000.

Objective: The rise of drug-resistant bacteria, viruses, and fungi has prompted the search for new drugs without cross-resistance to current treatments. As a result, the aim of this research was to synthesize various types of dihydropyrimidinones heterocyclic compounds and screened them for their antibiotic properties.

Methodology: Newly synthesized dihydropyrimidinone derivatives were characterized spectroscopically using proton NMR (HNMR), and FT-IR.

Unlabelled: are Gram-negative, rod-shaped, entero-invasive foodborne bacteria and are frequently detected in chicken houses and facilities of poultry broiler complexes. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence, critical entry points, and movement pattern of along different stages of a complex. A total of 1,071 environmental samples were collected from 38 production houses (8 pullet, 10 breeder, and 20 broiler), a hatchery, 6 transport trucks, and a processing plant.

Single-cell RNA sequencing of the spleen reveals differences in Salmonella typhimurium infection mechanisms between different chicken breeds.

Poult Sci

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Animal (Poultry) Genetics Breeding and Reproduction, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, State Key Laboratory of Animal Biotech Breeding, Institute of Animal Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing, 100193, PR China. Electronic address:

Bacterial infections remain an important cause of morbidity in poultry production. The molecular characteristics and dynamic changes in immune cell populations after bacterial infection have yet to be fully understood. Beijing-You chicken and Cobb broiler, two broiler breeds with different disease resistance, were infected with Salmonella typhimurium, and inflammation models were constructed.
