Background: Tendon repairs often result in adhesion formation which can cause persisting functional deficits. Close proximity of healing tissues increases friction during tendon excursion, often leading to tendon tethering postoperatively. Despite continued improvements in techniques for tendon repairs, there is currently no consensus on the most effective modality to reduce adhesion formation.

Falls from escalators, although infrequent, can result in a wide array of injuries, ranging from minor lacerations to fatal outcomes. This retrospective study aims to detail the treatment and outcomes of eight patients who sustained blunt-force trauma from escalator falls and received care at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California. Among these eight patients, seven required hospitalization, with three necessitating intensive care unit (ICU) admission, and two patients ultimately succumbing to their injuries.

Dog bites are one of the most common injuries in the United States, with varying presentations such as avulsion injuries and lacerations, and they range from a single bite to multiple bites in a victim. The severity of the dog bite is often the biggest factor in determining the treatment course. This report discusses the treatment of a 60-year-old male with severe facial avulsion trauma from a dog bite.

This report presents the case of a 62-year-old male with a history of chronic alcohol abuse who developed deep vein thrombosis (DVT) complicated by extensive bilateral pulmonary embolism (PE) and a right atrial thrombus. The presence of a right atrial thrombus in conjunction with PE and DVT is a rare and serious clinical presentation, often associated with a high thrombotic burden and increased risk of mortality. The patient initially presented with worsening shortness of breath following an occupational injury that resulted in a left heel laceration, subsequently leading to a significant thromboembolic event.
