BEN is a member of the TFII-I family of transcription factors, characterized by the presence of multiple helix-loop-helix repeat domains. Our immunohistochemical analysis demonstrated broad and extensive expression of BEN during mouse pre- and postimplantation development, with highest levels occurring during early to midgestation. Maternally expressed BEN is present in both the cytoplasm and nuclei of the zygote; however, it retains a predominantly nuclear localization between the two-cell stage of development and early blastocyst stages. This nuclear expression is observed in most tissues throughout development. Although, it is interesting to note that at E4.5-6.5, during early gastrulation stage, BEN is localized in the cytoplasm. At later stages, BEN retains an extensive expression pattern in a variety of developing systems implicating its involvement in tissue development and organogenesis.

Background: Transgenic plants expressing proteins that target the eggs of the ubiquitous plant pest Bemisia tabaci (whitefly) could be an effective insecticide strategy. Two approaches for protein delivery are assessed using the mCherry reporter gene in transgenic tomato plants, while accommodating autofluorescence in both the plant, phloem-feeding whitefly and pedicle-attached eggs.
Results: Both transgenic strategies were segregated to homozygous genotype using digital PCR.

Purpose: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) secreted by non-pigmented ciliary epithelial (NPCE) cells under oxidative stress may contribute to primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) pathogenesis by altering gene expression in human trabecular meshwork (HTM) cells. This study investigated the impact of microRNAs (miRNAs) carried by NPCE-derived EVs on HTM cell gene expression under oxidative stress conditions.
Methods: NPCE cells were exposed to oxidative stress, and EVs were isolated from control and stressed cells.

We present a case of a 64-year-old African American woman who initially presented with a gradually enlarging nodule on her posterior scalp. An initial biopsy at an outside hospital suggested metastatic adenocarcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of an uncertain origin.
