Hemodynamic changes in the monkeys (2 groups of 3 animals each) during 6 degrees and 20 degrees head down tilts (HDT) of various duration have been studied. An increase of the arterial blood pressure and linear velocity of the blood flow in the common carotid artery was noted immediately after HDT followed by a compensatory decrease of the values. A significant decline in orthostatic tolerance after 20 degrees HDT with developing a precollaptoid state is indicated. The changes of a circulation pattern in the common carotid artery bed are induced by a cranial shifting of the body fluids.

Results: MR angiography of the neck region showed a small atheromatous plaque at the origin of the right ICA and an anomalous artery arising from the posteromedial aspect of the right ICA at the distal end of the carotid bulb.

Background: Contrary to the common belief, the most commonly used laboratory C57BL/6J mouse inbred strain presents a distinctive genetic and phenotypic variability, and for several traits, the genotype-phenotype link remains still unknown. Recently, we characterized the most important stroke survival factor such as brain collateral plasticity in 2 brain ischemia C57BL/6J mouse models (bilateral common carotid artery stenosis and middle cerebral artery occlusion) and observed a Mendelian-like fashion of inheritance of the posterior communicating artery (PcomA) patency. Interestingly, a copy number variant (CNV) spanning locus was reported to segregate in an analogous Mendelian-like pattern in the C57BL/6J colonies of the Jackson Laboratory.
