In Escherichia coli, the phenylalanine-sensitive 3-deoxy-D-arabino-heptulosonate-7-phosphate synthase (DAHPS) AroG catalyzes the first committed step in the biosynthesis of aromatic compounds. To investigate the feedback inhibition site of AroG, mutated enzymes prepared with sequence-overlap extension PCR were expressed and purified. The enzymatic activity assay showed that the amino acid replacements at Phe144, Leu175, Leu179, Phe209, Trp215Ala and Val221 completely or partially relieved feedback inhibition of AroG addressed by the phenylalanine. Ile10Ala and Delta(1-15) desensitized feedback inhibition and caused a 70 approximately 90% loss of the specific catalytic activities. These results strongly suggest an involvement of the interior region and the N-terminus of the polypeptide chain of AroG in the formation of the feedback inhibition site of DAHPS.

Objectives: Kisspeptin plays a major role in the onset of puberty by stimulating the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons. The aim of this study was to investigate whether GnRH inhibits kisspeptin secretion via a negative feedback mechanism and potential associations between kisspeptin levels and other hormones of importance for pubertal onset.
Methods: Thirteen girls with suspected central precocious puberty underwent a GnRH stimulation test twice in a randomized, placebo-controlled manner.

Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor that regulates cell immune responses in a cell type-specific and ligand-dependent manner. In the central nervous system, astrocytic AhR plays important roles in regulating neuroinflammation by mediating responses to endogenous ligands generated from the inflammation-induced indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1)/kynurenine (KYN) pathway. We previously demonstrated that reduction of AhR expression decreases lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced pro-inflammatory responses in microglia.

Achilles tendon rupture is a common and serious condition that remains a challenge in the restoration of tendon structure and function. The design and use of high-performance piezoelectric materials serve as an effective solution to enhance repair outcomes, shorten recovery times, and reduce the risk of recurrence. In this study, we prepared a chitosan piezoelectric gel (CSPG) as an organic polymer with excellent biocompatibility, stretchability, and piezoelectric properties as well as excellent antibacterial properties.

Nutritional status is a determining factor for growth during development and homeostatic maintenance in adulthood. In the context of muscle, growth hormone (GH) coordinates growth with nutritional status; however, the detailed mechanisms remain to be fully elucidated. Here, we show that the transcriptional repressor B cell lymphoma 6 (BCL6) maintains muscle mass by sustaining GH action.

Objective: To elucidate the immediate electrophysiological effects of mirror visual feedback (MVF) combined with or without touch task in subacute stroke.
Methods: Subacute stroke patients and healthy controls were recruited to participate in four grasping tasks (MVF or no MVF, combined with rubber ball or no ball) under electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring. Event-related desynchronization (ERD) /event-related synchronization (ERS) and the lateralization index (LI) were utilized to observe the electrophysiological effects.
