Implantable drug delivery systems are crucial for achieving sustained delivery of active compounds to specific sites or systemic circulation. In this study, a novel reservoir-type implant combining a biodegradable rate-controlling membrane with a drug-containing core prepared using direct compression techniques is developed. The membrane is composed of poly(caprolactone) (PCL), and risperidone (RIS) served as the model drug.

Total glucosides of paeony (TGP) are a group of monoterpenes extracted from , primarily including metabolites such as paeoniflorin and oxypaeoniflorin. Modern pharmacological studies have shown that TGP possesses a variety of biological effects, including immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, nephroprotective, antidepressant, and cell proliferation regulatory activities. In recent years, clinical research has demonstrated favorable therapeutic effects of TGP on disorders of the liver, cardiovascular, nervous, endocrine, and skeletal systems.

Background: Hepatitis E virus (HEV) stands out as a significant transfusion-transmissible infection, yet it is not included in the screening protocols of many countries. The present study was conducted to assess the cost-benefit implications of incorporating HEV screening among blood donors which is one of the preventive strategies in reducing transfusion transmissible HEV.
Methodology: A decision tree model was prepared to assist the cost-benefit analysis.

This work combines halogen and chalcogen bonding. Short, polarity directed C-X⋅⋅⋅Ch (X = Br or I, Ch = Se or Te) contacts were prepared by in situ low-temperature cocrystallization of liquid mixtures of neutral pentafluorohalogenobenzenes C6F5X and dimethyl chalco-genides Me2Ch. Solid-state structures of Me2Se and Me2Te were determined 150 and 125 years after their first description.

Aims/hypothesis: COMBINE 2 assessed the efficacy and safety of once-weekly IcoSema (a combination therapy of basal insulin icodec and semaglutide) vs once-weekly semaglutide (a glucagon-like peptide-1 analogue) 1.0 mg in individuals with type 2 diabetes inadequately managed with GLP-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) therapy, with or without additional oral glucose-lowering medications.
Methods: This 52 week, randomised, multicentre, open-label, parallel group, Phase IIIa trial was conducted across 121 sites in 13 countries/regions.
