The immobilization of the enzymes citrate lyase, malate dehydrogenase, isocitrate dehydrogenase and lactate dehydrogenase to CIM monolithic supports was performed. The long-term stability, reproducibility, and linear response range of the immobilized enzyme reactors were investigated along with the determination of the kinetic behavior of the enzymes immobilized on the CIM monoliths. The Michaelis-Menten constant K(m) and the turnover number k(3) of the immobilized enzymes were found to be flow-unaffected. Furthermore, the K(m) values of the soluble and immobilized enzyme were found to be comparable. Both facts indicate the absence of a diffusional limitation in immobilized CIM enzyme reactors.

Recently biocementation has got attention of many researchers worldwide as one of the most potent techniques for sustainable construction. Several studies have been carried out worldwide on biocementation by urea hydrolysis. Biocementation by bacterially induced calcium carbonate precipitation by different bacterial species has been among the most widely researched areas in this field.

Carbendazim (CBZ) is a fungicide widely used on different crops, including soybeans, cereals, cotton, tobacco, peanuts, and sugar beet. Excessive use of this xenobiotic causes environmental deterioration and affects human health. Microbial metabolism is one of the most efficient ways of carbendazim elimination.

Two or more catalysts conducting multistep reactions in the same reactor, concurrent tandem catalysis, could enable (bio)pharmaceutical and fine chemical manufacturing to become much more sustainable. Herein we report that co-immobilization of metal nanoparticles and a biocatalytic system within a synthetic covalent organic framework capsule, COFcap-2, functions like an artificial cell in that, whereas the catalysts are trapped within 300-400 nm cavities, substrates/products can ingress/egress through ca. 2 nm windows.

Sugarcane smut is a widespread fungal disease, which severely impairs the quality and sugar yield of sugarcane. Early detection is crucial for mitigating its impact, which makes the development of a highly sensitive and accurate detection method essential. Herein, the Mn-doped zeolite imidazolate framework (ZIF-67), synthesized via a nano-confined-reactor approach, is designed to significantly enhance electron transport and boost the enzyme loading capacity within biofuel cells, thereby potentially enhancing their overall performance.

Chemical dosing constitutes an effective strategy for sulfide control in sewers; however, its efficacy requires further optimization and enhancement. In this study, a novel dosing strategy using the synergistic dosing of calcium peroxide (CaO) and ferrous ions (Fe) for sulfide control was proposed, and its efficacy in controlling sulfides was evaluated using a long-term laboratory-scale reactor. The results showed that adding CaO-Fe improves the effect of sulfide control.
