The eggshell is a highly ordered structure resulting from the deposition of calcium carbonate and an organic matrix from the acellular uterine fluid. Characterization of the individual matrix components is necessary to determine their influence upon calcite crystal shape, size, and orientation during eggshell calcification. We have purified and sequenced a novel 32-kDa protein, ovocalyxin-32 (OCX-32), which is present at high levels in the uterine fluid during the terminal phase of eggshell formation, and is localized predominantly in the outer eggshell. Database searches identified expressed sequence tags (ESTs) whose alignment yielded the complete cDNA. OCX-32 protein possesses limited identity (32%) to two unrelated proteins: latexin, a carboxypeptidase inhibitor expressed in rat cerebral cortex and mast cells, and to a skin protein that is encoded by a retinoic acid receptor-responsive gene, TIG1. The timing of OCX-32 secretion into the uterine fluid suggests that it may play a role in the termination of mineral deposition.

Introduction: Neglected Uterine rupture in an unscarred uterus is a rare but remains the most serious and fearsome complication in obstetrics, with high maternal and fetal risks, a neglected uterine rupture is rarer but more serious affecting the maternal prognosis with a high rate of hysterectomy.
Case Presentation: A 36-year-old patient, presented on postpartum day 4 a pelvic pain, physical examination finds patient in shock, Ultrasound showed an enlarged uterus with a discontinuity on the right lateral edge and abundant peritoneal fluid reaching Morison's pouch. The patient underwent a necessary total interadnexal hysterectomy due to the presence of a partial uterine necrosis.

The creatine (Cr) biosynthesis pathway buffers ATP in metabolically active tissues. We investigated whether sex of fetus and day of gestation influence Cr in endometrial and conceptus tissues from gilts on Days 60 and Day 90 (n = 6 gilts/day) of gestation. Uterine and conceptus tissues associated with one male and one female fetus from each gilt were analyzed for creatine, mRNAs, and proteins for Cr biosynthesis.

Eggshells not only protect the contents of the egg from external damage but are also a key factor influencing consumer choice, second only to price. In the later stages of egg production, the incidence of pimpled eggs significantly increases, severely affecting the hatchability and food safety of the eggs. This study compares the differences in the uterine proteomes and metabolomes of hens producing pimpled eggs and those producing normal eggs, aiming to identify the proteins and metabolites that may play a crucial role in the formation of pimpled eggs.

Activation of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) elicits negative effects on the reproductive system in mammals. Omega-3 (n-3) fatty acid (FA) supplementation lowers ECS activation and has anti-inflammatory effects. Thus, we hypothesized that supplementing cows with n-3 FA will downregulate components of the ECS and immune system in preovulatory follicles and in the endometrium.

Obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal agenesis (OHVIRA), also called Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome, is an extremely rare Müllerian duct anomaly accompanied by Wolffian duct anomalies. A 10-year-old intact female Yorkshire Terrier weighing 3.35 kg was presented with anorexia, depression, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
