Transcriptionally active NORs of chromosomes visualized by AgNO3 staining were studied in bone marrow and embryos (day 10 of gestation) of CBA and C57BL mice, as well as of (CBA x C57BL)F1 hybrids. These mouse strains were shown to differ by the average number of Ag-positive NORs in marrow cells; in hybrids, the number of NORs is greater than in the parent strains. During embryogenesis, the number of chromosomes carrying silver-stained NORs increases; however, no significant differences by this parameter was detected between hybrid and C57BL embryos. The average number of silver-stained NORs was the smallest in embryos of CBA mice.

This study investigated time-dependent changes in intracellular Ca⁺ levels in T cells, regulatory mechanisms, and functional effects after acute exercise. Male C57BL/6 mice were assigned to control and exercise groups, with the latter sacrificed at different intervals post-exercise. Murine splenic lymphocytes were isolated, and cytosolic Ca⁺ levels were measured using Fluo-3/AM.

Plastic changes in the brain are primarily limited to early postnatal periods. Recovery of adult brain plasticity is critical for the effective development of therapies. A brief (1-2 weeks) duration of visual deprivation (dark exposure, DE) in adult mice can trigger functional plasticity of thalamocortical and intracortical circuits in the primary auditory cortex suggesting improved sound processing.

Kidney fibrosis is a hallmark of chronic kidney diseases. Evidence shows that genetic variability and complement component 3 (C3) might influence tubulointerstitial fibrosis. Still, the role of renal C3 production in the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and genetically determined fibrosis progression remains undiscovered.

/: Neutrophils have recently gained significant attention due to their heterogeneity in tumor settings. The gene expression profiles of neutrophils from different tumor types are of great interest. Murine splenic neutrophils reflect the immune status of the organism and could be a source of tumor-associated neutrophils in tumor-bearing mice.

Oocyte developmental competence declines in women aged 35 and older resulting in many women resorting to IVF. The present study determined whether adding Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) during in vitro oocyte maturation (IVM) could improve oocyte developmental competence in a mouse model of advanced maternal age. Oocytes from 12-14 month C57BL6 J × CBA mice were treated with 10 ng/ml of GM-CSF during IVM, and embryo development, mitochondrial activity, spindle formation and chromosomal alignment were examined.
