Poly-L-lysines of chain lengths varying from 70 to 300 residues are shown to bring about luciferase pRSVL DNA uptake and expression in HeLa cells. Transfection was approximately 50% that of the cationic liposome DOTAB. Expression was higher in the presence of chloroquine. Of interest was the fact that luciferase activity depended on the polysine/DNA charge ratio (+/-). Maximum activity occurred at a charge ratio (+/-) of 3, while at a charge ratio of 1 (conjugate electrically neutral) activity was much lower. At the higher charge ratios (+/-) of 4 and 5, luciferase activity decreased. The results obtained are discussed.

In this work, we explored the role of a single electron in the energy of neutral and charged clusters of using data visualization and statistical techniques as a new insight. Initially, we studied the effects of one electron, time, and temperature on energy using multiple linear regression analysis with dummy variables, and the results demonstrated that all three predictors significantly affected the energy. Time had a positive impact (direct ratio effect) on the energy of , and and a negative impact (inverse ratio effect) on the energy of while temperature had a positive effect on the energy of all three sodium clusters.

Syngas has important industrial applications, and converting CO to CO is critical for syngas production. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have demonstrated significant potential in photocatalytic syngas conversion, although the impact of catalytic reactions on tunable H/CO ratios remains unclear. Herein, we present a novel bimetallic NiCo-MOF catalyst, NiCo, exhibiting high catalytic activity in syngas conversion due to the CO product self-driven effect.

Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a genetic disorder associated with baseline respiratory impairment caused by multiple contributing etiologies. While this may be expected to increase the risk of severe COVID-19 infections in PWS patients, survey studies have suggested paradoxically low disease severity. To better characterize the course of COVID-19 infection in patients with PWS, this study analyses the outcomes of hospitalizations for COVID-19 among patients with and without PWS.

Nutrition knowledge may be translated into adequate dietary intake and proper eating habits, so adolescent education programs focusing on improving eating habits and nutrition knowledge are needed. The aim of the cross-sectional study with pair-matched controls was to assess the Consumer Nutrition Knowledge Scale (CoNKS) results and its determinants after one year of intervention in a national extracurricular athletics program within a pair-matched sample of Polish adolescents. The #goathletics Study evaluated a Polish national extracurricular athletics program, 'Athletics for all', being a voluntary and free-of-charge physical activity program organized by the Polish Athletics Association.

The transient dynamics of photocurrents for poly((4-diphenylamino)benzyl acrylate) (PDAA)-based photorefractive (PR) polymers sensitized with perylene bisimide derivative N,N'-diisopropylphenyl-1,6,7,12-tetrachloroperylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxyl bisimide (PBI) at various composition ratios were studied. The PR polymer included (4-(diphenylamino)phenyl)methanol (TPAOH) photoconductive plasticizer and (4-(azepan-1-yl)-benzylidene) malononitrile nonlinear optical dye as well, which are needed for inducing PR effects. All the photocurrents measured at 640 nm were well simulated by a two-trapping site model considering photocarrier generation and recombination processes of the charge transfer (CT) complex between PBI and PDAA.
