We studied functional properties of tracheal smooth muscle cells in rats with diabetes mellitus. Reactivity of tracheal smooth muscles increased in rats with experimental alloxan-induced diabetes mellitus. A new complex compound of oxovanadium (IV) and isonicotinic acid hydrazide affected reactivity of tracheal smooth muscles in albino rats with experimental type I diabetes mellitus. This new organic vanadium-containing compound reduced contractility of tracheal smooth muscles in rats and potentiated relaxation of smooth muscle cells in the trachea in response to exogenous nitric oxide.

Background/aim: Silicosis, the most severe type of occupational pneumoconiosis, leads to diffuse pulmonary fibrosis without specific therapy. Ferroptosis is triggered by reactive oxygen species (ROS) and Fe overload-induced lipid peroxidation, which is involved in the progression of pulmonary fibrosis. As an important coenzyme in the process of aerobic respiration, Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) can enhance mitochondrial function and energy supply and reduce malondialdehyde (MDA) to limit the risk of fibrosis.

To investigate the changes of body temperature and nursing intervention of patients undergoing thoracoscopic surgery in lung tumor treatment. A total of 100 patients with lung cancer admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to January 2023 were selected as research objects, and were divided into control group and study group, with 50 cases in each group according to different treatment methods. All patients received thoracoscopic surgery, the control group received routine nursing, and the research group received perioperative nursing intervention on the basis of the above, and observed and compared the temperature changes, perioperative complications, postoperative rehabilitation, stress indexes and pain degree of the 2 groups of patients.

A 58-year-old woman was pointed out an abnormal electrocardiogram during a physical examination. A chest computed tomography( CT) scan revealed a 50-mm-sized cystic mass in the posterior mediastinum near the tracheal bifurcation. The mass exhibited growth during follow-up imaging, leading to a surgical resection.

A 6-month-old child with stridor from 3 months of age presented with interim worsening following a respiratory infection. Airway evaluation revealed a smooth, polypoidal mass herniating in and out of the airway with each respiratory cycle, from the anterior surface of the upper trachea. Computerized tomography showed a non-enhancing cystic mass in anterior neck protruding into the upper trachea through an anterior tracheal defect.

The efficacy of β-agonists in asthma is severely limited by β-adrenoceptor desensitization which results in poorly managed symptoms and refractory bronchoconstriction. Thus, there is a need to identify novel therapeutic pathways and to clarify the relationship between novel therapeutics and functional β-adrenoceptor responsiveness. We have previously demonstrated that acute antagonism of the calcium activated chloride channel, transmembrane member 16A (TMEM16A), relaxes airway smooth muscle (ASM).
